PUPILS at Malvern Parish CE Primary School enjoyed a comic art masterclass with Beano cartoonist Kev F Sutherland this week.
Kev, who writes and draws the famous Bash Street Kids, spent time with each class in KS2 teaching them the secrets of cartoon drawing and putting stories together in pictures.
The children created their own comic strips which were put together to make comics which they were able print and take home to share with family and friends.
Regarded as possibly the world’s fastest caracaturist cartoonist Kev also drew a ligtening charicature of each child and one of headteacher Lynn Gill.
“It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to work with a professional artist. They really enjoyed the experience and got completely absorbed in their drawing,” said Mrs Gill.
Mrs Gill said the cartoon masterclass had really caught the children’s imaginations and Kev’s personality had given the whole experience the wow factor.
Kev F Sutherland is a comedian and writer as well as a comic artist. In addition to the Beano his work has appeared on the pages of other comics, including 2000AD, Star Trek, Gladiators and The Funday Times.
