YOUR correspondent should hesitate before celebrating the fact that Malvern does not yet have a Green MP (Letters, February 24).
In Brighton, the one town that does, Green councillors’ efforts to defend vital public services by increasing council tax by a modest 57p a week for the average household was defeated by Labour and Tory councillors.
Green councillors are now working hard to ensure that the millions of pounds of cuts forced upon the community will not be imposed on those least able to afford them.
In Malvern, the Tory council’s unimaginative answer to its budgetary problems was to try to increase car parking charges.
