WITH the imminent completion of the restoration of the Master's House is it not time to consider removal or re-siting of the pair of dreadful modern telephone boxes by the main gate posts at the formal entrance to the St Katherine's complex?
Better still, replace them with a traditional Gilbert Scott red telephone box - if any is needed in this location.
For the Queen's Diamond Jubilee I had suggested raising funds, by subscription, for a pair of ornamental Jubilee gates at this entrance - doubtless gates existed at some time.
The Town Council didn't respond and the Civic Society's response was that they would always be open - what vision!
