I WAS told by one of the promoters that the cable car proposal for the Malvern Hills will be marvellous for the disabled and infirm.
If it was going to be strictly confined to such people, he might have a case.
In the summer I walked to the top of Great Orme from Llandudno and saw the tram disgorge its passengers.
None seemed disabled or infirm, but they were all overweight, and I'm sure most would have benefitted from walking up and down instead.
If the promoters insist in proceeding, I trust they will look to the national chains trading in Malvern to fund the scheme as it will surely be the likes of Cafe Nerro, Costa, Ask, Wetherspoons and Waitrose that will acquire the lion's share of the additional tourist spend.
