THERE is a lot in the media about the NHS being unable to cope with unprecedented increases in patient numbers in some areas.
Thankfully, our experiences do not bear this out locally.
My husband and I both picked up nasty bugs when flying back from our diamond anniversary celebrations.
On the evening of New Year's Eve the care line sent an ambulance in 15 minutes.
They sorted out my husband's initial problems and organised an out-of-hours doctor, who came later that night and left medication.
A GP from St Saviours surgery came next day and the lady at Evans pharmacy chased up the prescription which hadn't been received by closing time, and this was picked up by a family member and delivered.
We are now recovering slowly in the care of our family.
So full marks to all those very hard-pressed NHS workers and very many thanks to everyone concerned from two grateful recipients.
