SO nobody likes the look of the khaki tin tardis that has landed in our central conservation area?
As your story implies, it is not going to take off again, so let's stop moaning about the eyesore and think about how we might improve its appearance.
Western Power welcomes suggestions, so here are a few to be going on with:
Camouflage: a standard practice if you want to obscure something, leaving aside painting it to look like a half-timbered kiosk (not very kind to the nearby genuine article) there's standard MOD solution or zig zag stripes used to disguise navy ships, or how about giving it a classical columns and cornice treatment like an Italian family mausoleum?
Making the thing smile by putting a face on it, Banksy-style. I suggest six full-size black silhouettes of recent mayors of this town. Later ones could take their place in rotation.
Use the south and north elevations as noticeboards for the new library. By moving the existing town notice board to go across the face of the shed facing St Katherine's, with good direction signs to the new library, this could provide space for all those notices which appear around the entrance to any library, thus avoid defacing the new classical entrance to the Masters House.
Folks out there must have many more ideas! So come on let's have them.
