TODAY we remember those who died in the conflicts of past wars. We think, too, of those in the armed forces who today are recovering from injuries incurred in recent war zones.

There will be a Remembrance Sunday service in the Memorial Hall at 10.45am and all attending are asked to be punctual.

The Book Club meet on Monday evening, 7.30pm at Carol’s home, and the book under discussion is ‘Ursula’s Secret’ by Mairi Wilson.

The Walking Club are planning a ‘fish ‘n chips’ evening in The Farmers Arms for 7.30pm Thursday 17 November, and this especially for all the ‘injured’ walkers to meet up with the group.

Please diarise Saturday 26 November, 10.30am – 11.30am in the Memorial Hall for the Newcomer’s Welcome Day. Those new in the village are encouraged to come along and find out what happens here, and all other residents may like to see the display by the Neighbourhood Development Working Committee.

And don’t forget the Christmas Fayre: this is your chance to get all your Christmas shopping done under one roof, and to enjoy some tasty food and some singing from the Wellington Heath Singers. The date is Saturday 3 December, 10am – 12 noon. All contributions will be gladly received toward Christ Church’s building project.

And a thought to end with from Benjamin Disraeli, former British PM: ‘ The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example.’

Enjoy your week!
