Next Friday will of course be Armistice Day, and details of West Malvern’s plans for Sunday November 13 to mark this solemn occasion – which will be especially poignant on the centenary of the Battle of the Somme – will be published here next week. They can also be found on the village web site westmalvernhallandvillage.net. Meanwhile, as the Poppy Day collections gather pace, the local branch of the Royal British Legion which has a remarkable record over the years, has once again swung into action. Legion stalwart Richard Hammond has undertaken a marathon ten-day poppy selling exercise at Morrisons store entrance, where he will be found daily from 8am-8pm. He is repeating his efforts of last year, when more than £6,000 was raised. He will doubtless be pleased to see any West Malvern friends on their weekly shop for a short chat!
