DURING these challenging times it is important to stay positive and share good news and I am delighted to share news from BetaDen, Worcestershire’s Technology Accelerator, who this week held their virtual pitch event for their second cohort of businesses.

The six entrepreneurs were able to showcase their technologies to an invited audience of over 60 people and share their story.

I think this kind of event is crucial to their development and the adaption by the team to hosting the session virtually means they did not miss out on this key part of the accelerator programme due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It has also been great to see how the technologies being developed in the cohort are being adapted to the current crisis to support both key workers and businesses trying to operate. Two good examples are; PLINX, who have produced wearable technology that can be integrated across several industries like construction and transport to keep workers safe, and Utelize who have developed a secure mobile network solution for the mobile workforce with increased data security to existing networks.

The BetaDen team have also adapted the remainder of the development programme with the cohort 2 showcase taking place on June 18 as either a physical or virtual event depending on Government regulations. This is a great event to be a part of and I would encourage interested parties to consider joining this event to hear the overall journey these cohort businesses have made.

Also, it was recently announced the third cohort of businesses joining BetaDen, with eight new firms looking to accelerate their technology ideas to market. They will be starting their journey in June this year as well.
