This week hosted Worcestershire’s largest careers event, the Worcestershire Skills Show. Over 6,000 young people, employers and education providers from across the Midlands attended this year’s daylong event on Wednesday.

Once again, the show allowed students to partake in a wide variety of exciting careers related activities to help them experience the different careers possible, to provide them a better understanding of the world of work and the pathways they have available.

I have been able to oversee several Worcestershire Skills Shows and it has been my pleasure to see them continue to get bigger and better each year, with this year’s marking the highest number of visitors and exhibitors to date with over 6,000 visitors and 120 exhibitors.

Without the support of the employers exhibiting the event wouldn’t be possible, so I would like to thank all those involved with making the event such a success year after year.

We are seeing now that businesses are recognising the opportunity the event provides to have impactful encounters to help inspire young people. This is a powerful way for organisations to address their recruitment concerns with a long-term development plan.

I would strongly encourage organisations who are not currently involved with the Worcestershire Careers Hub to consider pledging their support to our Inspiring Worcestershire campaign to help make a meaning impact on a young person’s future.

You can pledge to help with a variety of commitments all depending on what works best for your business. This can be from helping with mock interview days and careers assemblies to exhibiting at careers events like the Worcestershire Skills Show.
