ACTRESS and model Liz Hurley is believed to have bought a £6 million mansion near Ledbury.

The Estée Lauder ambassador, who is engaged to cricket legend Shane Warne, is believed to have bought Donnington Hall, two miles from the town.

Liz and Shane, who is rated one of the top five cricketers ever, have rarely been out of the news since they became an item two years ago.

In November, the Ledbury Reporter revealed the house-hunting rumours when the couple strolled into Greggs the bakers on the High Street.

The town was buzzing with rumours the couple were looking for property as Liz ordered a custard slice and Shane, two sausage rolls.

The impressive property boasts a tennis court, fishing lake, housekeeper accommodation and 21 acres of woodland. Equine fan Liz will have been impressed by the property’s Edwardian stables and open fields.

News that Shane, who took 708 Test wickets before retiring in 2007, could be moving in has excited cricket clubs.

“It’s good news for cricket in the area,” said Jim Sandford, chairman at nearby Eastnor Cricket Club.

“It would be marvellous if Shane turned up. It would be interesting to see what his thoughts on cricket would be.

“I think he would get a game with us.”

Jo Jeynes, supporters’ club secretary of the Ledbury Hunt, said: “I think Liz will fit in splendidly, and she’s more than welcome to join us, if she rides a horse.” Councillor Annette Crowe, chairman of the Ledbury Traders’ Association said: “This is good news. She has made a wise choice.

“Everyone fits in, here in Ledbury.”

Ledbury’s mayor, Coun Phill Bettington said: “I might have to introduce myself, if she comes here.

“It’s nice to have her here.”

Colleen Hayes, of Hayes Sales and Lettings in New Street, confirmed the hall had been sold but declined to confirm the name of the buyer.
