DISTRICT councillor Roy Harding says he is working hard for residents and traders who are angry about plans to replace car parking spaces in Barnards Green with a bus stop.

Coun Roy Harding, who represents the Chase ward on Malvern Hills District Council, said: “My priority is to help protect the livelihoods of the shopkeepers and also the needs of the residents who use those spaces.

“I shall be raising this with my colleagues both at the district council and also the county council as a matter of priority.

“Whilst I recognise there are a range of parking problems in Barnards Green which need to be addressed individually, from the many letters and e-mails I have received about this particular problem, it is clear to me that the county council needs to review the situation by taking into account the needs of local shopkeepers and residents.”

As your Malvern Gazette has previously reported county councillor Steve Brown proposed seven parking spaces outside the post office in Court Road could be replaced with a bus stop.

Mr Brown this week said: “The publicity by the local traders and the Malvern Gazette has had the effect of producing the widest possible consultation on the issue and is good for democracy.

“I have read all the comments in the Gazette and replied to all the letters and e-mails I have received.

“I should add that some letters have been in support of the proposal and a number against.”
