THE first-ever Elgar Vintage Charity Bike Ride will take place on Sunday, September 16.

The event has been organised by Malvern Link-based bicycle repair firm Bricycles, to raise money for three local causes: Acorns, Malvern Rugby Club defibrillator campaign and Malvern Hills All Terrain Bicycle Search and Rescue.

Tanya Trotman of Bricycles said: “The ride represents an opportunity to raise money for our community and to have a unique day.

“Dress in Victorian attire and if you can ride the oldest bike you own all the better. There will be prizes for the best dressed and best bicycle among others.”

The ride meets at the Malvern Hills Hotel British Camp at 1.30pm for the full 8.8 miles route via Jubilee Drive and musters at the Malvern Theatre in Priory Park at 2.30pm for riders only wanting to complete a 4.8 mile ride.

They will leave Priory Park to Newland via Barnards Green and through Madresfield to the final destination, the Swan Inn. Registration fee is £5, retired £3 and children £1.
