I RECENTLY had the misfortune of contacting West Mercia Police regarding a trifling matter that did not warrant a 999 call.
Finding that I was no longer able to contact my local police station some 400 yards away, I phoned the number given in the phone book, 0333 something.
The operator who was sitting who-knows-where, although polite, had no local knowledge. and twice put me on hold to chat to someone else. The matter was resolved.
I have just had my telephone bill arrive to find the call cost me £1.42.5p, where a local call to Malvern would have cost no more than 5p. Is this David Cameron’s Big Society?
Justice for those able to pay?
What next £5 for a 999 call?
TERRY FORD, Malvern
