SUPERFAST broadband is a step closer to those missing out in Malvern.

The Gazette has been campaigning for a speedy resolution to negotiations between BT and Malvern Hills Conservators about installing key equipment on the charity’s land.

And it seems that the wait will soon be over for the hundreds of people currently missing out on the service.

Stephen Bound, the new director of the Conservators, today revealed he had met with BT and agreed locations for the cabinets as well as the fees involved.

He said BT would now simply have to obtain planning permission for the cabinets - on Wells Road, West Malvern Road and Malvern Link Common - before they can be installed.

“Once that is secured then everything will be in place,” he said.

The work will bring homes and businesses in the areas affected up to speed with the 15,600 properties already benefitting from downloads of up to 80mpbs in Malvern.
