A TALENTED mother-of one has been accepted to one of the country’s leading art schools.

Lexi Strauss, of Great Malvern, graduated from Hereford College of Arts last year with a first-class degree in fine art.

Now she has enrolled on a post-graduate course at the Royal College of Art in London, where she will continue to paint and study.

The college is arguably the best art school in the country.

Ms Strauss moved to the town nine years ago with her partner Morgan George and went on to study at Hereford part-time.

It was only after she enrolled she was diagnosed with dyslexia, getting one-toone computer tuition.

With part-time studies at the prestigious postgraduate art university, Mr George, an actor, has agreed to become the main carer for their nineyear- old son Wilsy while Lexi does her course.

“I’ll be in London for a couple of days a week,” she said.

“My partner has agreed to put his career on hold.

“I’m thrilled my son has witnessed my development too.”

Lexi originally trained as an actress and has drawn and painted throughout her life. However, the Hereford course gave her the chance to do very large-scale work in the studios.

She said: “I really couldn’t have got any more out of my two years at Hereford – it has changed me and my life completely.”

Ms Strauss said she was delighted and surprised she could “move to the next stage” as she did not think she would be offered a place immediately.

Allison Neal, Hereford College course leader, said: “Lexi’s ability was obvious from a very early stage and this showed in the outstanding work she produced for the degree show.

“We offer her our heartiest congratulations and will be watching her career with great interest.”
