A NEW community theatre and music project is hoping to drum up interest ahead of a planned production next year.

The Malvern Entertainment Group, set up by music graduate and soprano Emma Burrows, is holding a meeting for people interested in forming the cast and crew at West Malvern Social Club on Sunday at 7pm.

It is hoped the group will perform Julian Slade and Dorothy Reynolds’ musical Salad Days at the Coach House Theatre, in Grange Road, from February 12- 16, 2013, with the theatre’s manager Chris Bassett as director.

Miss Burrows said: “I grew up in Malvern attending and taking part in many local shows and events.

“Sadly when I returned to Malvern after university, rising costs had limited the number of opportunities to those locally. I wanted to create a way of bringing the chance to star in a musical production back to the people of Malvern.

“So far there has been a lot of support for our other events although it is a big and expensive leap to stage a full production.”

The production is a light hearted, family-friendly musical and all manner of technical roles will need to be filled for it to be a success, including speaking, non-speaking, dancing or singing parts.

Positions such as stage manger, light board operator, choreographer and props makers are among those potentially up for grabs.
