AT the April meeting, the president, Rosemary Bayles, introduced the speaker for the evening, Peter Louis from the Campaign to Protect Rural England.

He told members his organisation was pro-development as long as it was the right sort of development, and their prime aim is protecting the landscape.

They are keen on urban regeneration and brown field sites should be used first. In this area the Wye Valley and the Malvern Hills are the only two AONBS. He was thanked by Val.

After a break for refreshments Rosemary thanked Jennifer and Monica for hosting the coffee morning at The Hill House. The next get together would be a walk and soup lunch at Windsordine on Thursday, April 26, at 10.30am.

Arrangements for a busy spring season were discussed when the WI will be serving teas at a Diamond Jubilee Fete on Tuesday, June 5, at Bosbury School. On Sunday, June 3, there will be a WI tree planting ceremony at the Parish Hall after the Jubilee lunch at around 2pm.

The annual May Fair will be taking place on Saturday, May 12, from 2pm–5pm in the Parish Hall. There will be two competitions open to everyone – five cup cakes decorated on an Olympic theme and a photograph 6x4 to depict a sporting event. A donation from proceeds will be given to the Herefordshire Nursing Appeal. To keep everyone entertained there will be a fairground organ and children can enjoy a visit from a Shetland pony.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10, at 7.30pm in the Parish Hall, when the resolutions will be discussed followed by a quiz. For further information please telephone 01531 640622.
