THE open garden on Croft Bank seemed to be well supported, despite the weather, which was a bit erratic on Tuesday afternoon. There was clearly plenty of people who wanted to support Parkinson’s Awareness week.

There were also lots of lovely cakes, to eat and buy.

It wasn’t so much the weather that caused a problem at the WI meeting last week, but the heating – or rather, the lack of it!

About 35 women turned up to listen to local expert Johnny Birks talking about Malvern Mammals, to find a cold school hall – presumably because it was the holidays.

However, some ladies were resourceful and managed to find extra layers to wrap up in, and others were stoical, and everyone still managed to enjoy a very lively and interesting talk about the local wildlife on and around the Malvern Hills. The next meeting will be the WI annual meeting – do go along and have your say in how your WI should be run; or even join the committee!

The annual parochial church meeting of St James’s Church is to be incorporated into a special morning service at 10.30am on Sunday, April 29.

The Wednesday walks from the village have started again for the summer.

Anyone interested in stretching their legs on a Wednesday evening, in convivial company, should turn up at the Brewers Arms for a 6.30pm start.

There is also the thought of a refreshing pint and maybe a curry to look forward to when you get back!
