THE Friends of Link Nurseries met last week to consider sending out an information leaflet to households around the village.

Forthcoming events were discussed and these included manning a stall at local fairs and fetes.

The friends are asking for volunteers to help in fairs at Malvern Hospital in the summer and at Christmas, and the playing field fete and church fete in June and September respectively.

Vegetable plants are now available to buy and in a few weeks’ time the summer bedding plants will be on sale. The friends are looking to acquire some tools and equipment to use at the nurseries and would welcome any donations.

Members of our churches helped on a stall at the Countrytastic Show in Malvern. The stall was organised by the Diocesan Agricultural and Rural Chaplaincy and many children were able to ice hot cross buns, decorate hard-boiled eggs, plant wheat, mill flour and paint large pictures.

The Archdeacon, the Ven Roger Morris and the Bishop of Worcester the Rt Rev John Inge also visited the stall which was manned by church and clergy volunteers, and organised by Robin Sharples.

The annual meeting for Madresfield and Guarlford is on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

Fourteen members of Powick Ramblers and two dogs met for the five-mile walk last Thursday from Storridge climbing hills up onto the Worcestershire way along the Suckley Ridge towards North Malvern and the Outdoor Centre.

The walk was led by Don and ended with refreshment at the New Inn, Storridge. Powick Ramblers’ next walk is on Friday, April 27, meeting at Great Witley church (GR769650) for four-and-a-half miles of easy walking. The leader is Cherry (01886 884388).

Tickets are on sale for the Powick Parish Community Choir’s second anniversary concert being held at Powick Parish Hall on Friday, April 27, at 8pm. Tickets are available from members Julia Sandy, John Hadley or Elaine Mather and from the local pubs the Blue Bell and Three Nuns, priced £7.
