MEMBERS and three visitors were welcomed to the April meeting by the president.

There were a number of notices, including several from the National Federation as well as from the Worcestershire Federation and local groups.

Among events recently attended was the excellent Brain Awareness Day, the first of the new format science days, and the Severn Group meeting at Ripple where there had been a very interesting talk on perfumes.

Jilly Baker was the speaker for the evening and her subject, Lingerie. In a delightful bubbly manner she told members a little of her background, having started working in a lingerie shop as a teenager and subsequently for several of the well-known bra companies.

She now works for herself, fitting and selling underwear and swimwear.

Were we aware that in a recent survey the vast majority of women were found to be wearing the wrong-size bra?

Jilly showed members samples of the different styles available and the figure-types that they would most suit.

Comfort is most important and the effect required under different types of clothing. How much oomph does a lady want from her bra? It was a very informative and enjoyable talk.

The competition for an embroidered handkerchief was won by Janet Clemas, Sylvia Poutney and Cath Doig.

Next month on May 8 at 7.30pm in the village hall members will be discussing the resolution to be voted on at the national meeting, the subject being the need for more midwives to cope with the rising birth rate.

This will be followed by a fun session of indoor curling. Visitors are always welcome.
