ABRACADABRA! Rabbit out of the hat! OK! Abracadabra hat out of the rabbit! No, not quite but by the end of the evening Jill Lauriston ably demonstrated how this trick could be done.
Jill showed members the art of making felt and how it could be fashioned into beautiful hats and bags of which she had many fine examples.
The designs ranged from clochestyle hats decorated with handmade flowers to the piece de resistance – a hat supporting a full English breakfast fashioned out of felt.
Thus members learnt of Jill’s great talent as an artist and felt-maker and also a little of the history of felt hatmaking.
The next meeting is on Thursday, April 5, at 7.30pm in St Andrew's Church Hall. The speaker will be Louvain Beer and all ladies will be made most welcome.
