JUNE opened the March meeting and welcomed members and guests. Apologies were given and the minutes signed as agreed.

Marilyn gave out various announcements and confirmed several boards were being circulated for interesting visits/activities. Pauline gave her financial reports and copy statements were available for inspection.

Information was given about various activities planned for the parish Jubilee celebrations on June 3. The WI would be serving teas from 3pm onwards. A collection was taken for ACWW (in support of women in third world countries) and June asked members to bring unwanted pairs of shoes for recycling in aid of the 1ST Leigh Guides funds.

A birthday posy was presented for Jean Moore and Cath Hall won the monthly competition. Gill announced the first 2012 lunch would be held at The Fold, Bransford on Tuesday, March 20.

June introduced Rosemary Prosser who kept everyone fully entertained with an amusing talk From tights to Trousers on her career as the first married women police officer in West Mercia constabulary, before equal opportunities became the norm, from which point women officers no longer received an allowance for tights! Rosemary’s talk was well peppered with a number of anecdotes and jokes.

April 3 – Will Tooby talking about the ethos of the Fold and future aspirations; May 1 – Resolutions and Peter King with photographs of local interest; June 12 - New date – open meeting Alex Stevenson, Dale Cottage Farm – English grown ecofriendly garden flowers for weddings and events.
