A MUSICIAN from Malvern has reached the next round of a national competition.

Singer-songwriter Pete Clough, aged 26, of Malvern Link, beat hundreds of other musicians to make it through to the regional finals of the National Live and Unsigned music competition.

Mr Clough, who also plays the acoustic guitar, entered the competition and got through to the audition stages in Camden, London, during which he had to perform a short two-minute piece.

He said that about 800 musicians were at the audition and many had to be turned away.

Mr Clough said: “I found out about 20 minutes to half-an-hour after I performed. I thought I played well so I was hopeful. I was really chuffed when they told me I was through.”

Mr Clough has been playing the guitar since he was 17 and studied for a HND in music production at Worcester College of Technology.

He will perform in the regional final showcase of the competition in Basildon Towngate Theatre, Essex in a bid to make the grand final at Live Fest at London’s O2 arena in July.
