IMAGES of some of the coldest places on Earth are currently on show at Malvern Library until the end of the month.

The exhibition showcases the work of travel photographer Alex Sharp, including pictures of Svalbard, Antarctica, Mount Everest Tibet and many other places, Alex’s work has been published in magazines including Professional Photographer and last year she was a semi-finalist in the BBC and Veolia Wildlife photographer of the year 2011 with one of her Svalbard images.

In 2010 after having worked for 22 years in television, Alex decided that the time had come to go it alone and she took the leap from being travel and commercial photographer for others, to doing it for herself.

She has just returned from a trip to Switzerland photographing mountains including the north face of the Eiger.

“Crossing some of the roughest seas on the planet to reach such extreme destinations is a challenge in itself, but worth it for the reward of such beautiful scenery and wildlife when you arrive,”

said Alex, who lives in Hartlebury.

“I try to capture the essence of the place and small moments in time of life in such extreme places, so that people back home can get a flavour of what it was truly like.”
