MALVERN Festival Chorus will be performing two works by Benjamin Britten, both composed for centenary celebrations, at its concert on Saturday, March 10, in Malvern Theatres.
The Festival Te Deum was written in 1945 for the centenary festival at St Mark’s, Swindon, and his cantata St Nicolas in 1948 for the centenary celebrations at Lancing College, Sussex.
The part of Nicolas in this performance will be sung by Simon Berridge (tenor) with Malvern Priory Choir comprising the Gallery Choir. Three trebles from The Downs, Malvern College, will also join the Chorus.
Purcell’s Chacony completes the programme which starts at 7.30pm. Regency Sinfonia accompanies the performance which will be conducted by Iain Sloan.
Tickets, available from Malvern Theatres box office, are priced at £15, concessions £13 and fulltime students and under-16s, £8.
