We have received from Messrs Elkin and Co of London several new pianoforte selection and songs, including one by Mr Louis Arthur Hamand, London, the organist of the Priory Church, who has written words on no less charm than the music. It is entitled Springtime, and trips on joyously from the first bar to the last. Popularity is assured for it with amateur as well as professional vocalists, for it presents no serious vocal difficulties.

Strong opposition was voiced at a public inquiry to the construction of a petrol filling station, car showroom and minor servicing area at Barnards Green. Mr R Dyke of Pendock was appealing against the decision to refuse him permission to construct the station at Crownlea House.

When the North Ledbury Hunt point-to point-meeting is held at Colwall Park racecourse on Sunday, it will be a sort of 21st anniversary in reverse. The last proper meeting was in the spring of 1939. The meeting arranged for September 4, 1939 was cancelled for reasons only too well remembered.

Councillors have failed to agree to seek planning permission for the £3.5 million-plus leisure pool complex proposed for Priory Park. Members decided instead to spend an extra £7,500 on further reports from their consultants.
