THE village hall certainly looked welcoming, decorated for Christmas, and with festive table settings, for the December Christmas party. With guests from neighbouring WIs, in addition to the members, the room was well-filled. Business was very brief, though mention was made of the recent death of Cynthia Nicholls, who had been a very active member for many years.

After a delicious meal, the entertainment began whilst members were finishing their coffee. Tony Breedon had chosen for his theme Richard Rogers – the Man and his Music. He brought song books so that members were able to join him in singing a selection from the musicals of Richard Rogers during his partnerships with Hart and with Hammerstein, all familiar songs. Between the musical numbers members learned something of the life of Richard Rogers and of the background to the songs. Mr Breedon was thanked very sincerely for entertaining so well. Everyone then went home with a small Christmas gift.

The first meeting of the New Year will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday, January 11 in the village hall when Angela Hugman will talk on Tales of the Unexpected. Visitors are always welcome. For more details of our activities please contact the secretary on 01684 592408.
