THE Malvern Showground is blending Halloween and Bonfire Night celebrations into one when it hosts a Harry Potter-themed ‘Witches and Warlocks Fireworks Spectacular’.

The event, on Friday, November 5, is promising to embrace both the nostalgia and excitement of traditional Gunpowder Plot festivities and the ghosts, ghouls and wizardry of Halloween.

A host of familiar characters will be roaming the showground to celebrate the launch of the new film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One and the venue’s usual precision-choreographed fireworks will be accompanied by a bewitching repertoire of music.

There will also be a huge bonfire, fun-fair rides, themed art and craft areas, face painting, a children’s fancy dress competition, and a disco.

Showground spokesman Sharon Gilbert said: “The two festivals are so close together in date that we decided to combine the two in one event and add a little ‘witchcraft’ to the usual pyrotechnic recipe.”

The Witches and Warlocks Firework Spectacular begins at 5.30pm, with the fireworks at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £6.50 (5-15s £5, family ticket £20, under-5s free) from 01684 584924 or threecounties.co.uk/fireworks.

Harry Potter fans buying tickets in advance can enter a competition to win a family ticket to see the film by quoting ‘Harry Potter’ when calling the box office.

Parking at the event is free.
