MALVERN United Angling Assoc-iation fished the return leg of their 12-a-side challenge match with Severn Stoke Angling Club on the Avon at Birlingham.

Having won comprehensively on Severn Stoke's own water previously, the team were keen to complete the victory on their home water.

The river was low and clear which made bites hard to come by but it was junior member James Mitchell who took the honours with his first victory in a senior contest. Drawn on noted bream peg 2, James needed only one good specimen of 5-2-0 and some small perch taken on feeder tactics to seal victory with 5-13-0.

Malvern won the overall team event by 20-5-0 to 15-8-0.

Thanks go to Severn Stoke AC for hosting MUAA on their water and the club looks forward to fishing with them again next season.

An excellent turnout of members fished for the Taylor Cup last Sunday on the Severn at Holdfast.

Overcast and breezy conditions looked good for bream and so it was for Ian Goddard, who drew peg 23 and had a nice bag of bream ranging from 2 to 5lbs and some roach to take the cup with 22-6-0. Ian employed groundbait feeder tactics alternating worm and maggot on the hook.

Second spot went to Adrian Busby, courtesy of a good bream weighing 5-3-0 from peg 9.

Neil Humpage took third place once again with a single fish weighing in at 2-12-0 from peg 15.

The next contest is the Chairman's cup this Sunday, also at Holdfast. Draw 7.15am, fish 8-1pm.

Fixture change: The Junior cup is actually being held on Saturday, September 3, draw 2pm, fish 2.30-4.30pm and not on September 4 as stated. Also the Derek Evans Float Only trophy will be fished on Sunday, September 4, at Birlingham. Draw 7.15am, fish 8-1pm.
