A HAPPY, family atmosphere was evident on Callow End playing field last Saturday when villagers got together to enjoy the dry summer weather by playing cricket and other games involving all ages including a tug o war, while the barbecue and pig roast sold out. The winner of the cricket competition was the team from Callow End Club, the runner-up was The Blue Bell, and the play-off between the Old Bush and the Ladies was won by the team from The Old Bush. There were many raffle prizes, stalls, ferret racing. The winner of Guess the Weight of the cake was Tracey Ames. The afternoon was compered by Colin.

This Sunday, July 19 come and support your local Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes at the Musical Afternoon and barbecue being held at the Old Bush in Bush Lane from 1pm. There will be lots of music of all varieties to entertain young and old.

On Sunday, July 19 at St James’ at 9.30am there will be an end-of-term special for Junior Church and the following Sunday there is a service (coffee and cake) to celebrate St James’ Day at the same time.

Keep Fit - Stretch and Tone - Class at Callow End Village Hall on Wednesdays from 7.30pm till 8.30pm will continue through the summer. Each session costs £4.50 and is led by Sue; ring (01684) 565462 for more details.
