ON Friday, July 9, members of Mothers’ Union organised a barbecue at the Vicarage in honour of our Mothers’ Union visitors from Uganda. They had especially asked to meet some young people in the Deanery and members of Outer Limits were present to share some fellowship with these interesting visitors. The ladies taught the young people their songs and dances to the beat of drums.

The first ever Longdon Happening took place on Longdon Village Green last Saturday, July 10. The weather was brilliant and everyone enjoyed watching the Sway Dance Group from Upton, whilst enjoying cream teas provided by Longdon Women’s Fellowship, a barbecue courtesy of the Thatchers of Longdon, and a bar. Outer Limits organised a game of rounders for the young people, and the adults were able to take part in a quiz organised by the Village Hall Committee. Helen Dixon was kept very busy painting faces! Well done to Jo Vickery who organised this event – it was very successful.

Bridge Builders and Distinctive enjoyed their summer barbecue last Sunday at the Vicarage. There was plenty of fun to be had, at the tin can coconut stand, searching the garden for a scavenger hunt, decorating tiles, jumping on the trampoline, and playing rounders.

Outer Limits are off on a trip to Min y Don Christian Outdoor Centre in Wales this weekend. Let’s hope they have good weather and have fun taking part in various outdoor pursuits.

There will be a service of Evening Prayer at St Mary’s Church, Longdon on Sunday, beginning at 6.30pm. There will be a Family Service beginning at 9.45am at St Nicholas’ Church, Queenhill.
