BALLARD'S land is situated on Chase Road on the western slopes of the Malvern Hills, these delightful meadows were conveyed to the Hills Conservators by three members of the Ballard family. The light grazing has allowed a number of plants to flower, amongst them are betony, thyme and ladies bedstraw.
The butterflies and moths are in abundance on these fields, Ringlets dance up and down the slopes. The ringlet looks like an ordinary brown butterfly but catch a glimpse of its underwing and the small golden circles give away its name. A perfect place for an evening stroll away from the crowds.
IAN ROWAT.
