It’s quite a week in Ashworth towers.

Not only have I had the various day-to-day tasks involved in taking care of my mother but, my eldest son (who is disabled) has been home for a week's visit.

This entailed a trebling of the food bills and about a quadrupling of the work involved and the traffic through the house was phenomenal.

This all culminated in a terrible stop-start journey to Digbeth coach station. We only just caught the coach as it was preparing to reverse out.

Anyway, back to the training. It’s been a great week for training; I am now claiming to be a proper jogger having run non-stop twice now and survived to tell the tail.

Details: Friday: went for run/walk round my usual course 2 mins run, 1 min walk, took me 26.36 mins to complete.

Sunday last: went for run/walk 3 min run, 1 min walk. shaved off about 2 mins off time.

Tuesday: Run/walk 4-5 mins run, 1 min walk, reduced time a further 2 mins bringing the total time down to around 22.30 mins. Feel a bit different as if I’m getting better at it.

Friday: went on usual course and ran all the way round, and saved another 1.30 min approx.

I felt great after that one; really felt I was getting somewhere.

Sunday; decided to try a different course, left home up through Dingly Dell on to Church Road under railway bridge to mini roundabout and across to train station. Carried on round bottom of common to Morgan works and then to Focus and home again through back ways. Took 27.00 mins exactly, ran all the way and therefore am a jogger now a.b.d. LOL.

I really must find out where I can buy a pedometer so that I can tell how far I am going…I know I have a long way to go yet and all the literature says that time is the best way to measure your runs but, well you’ve got to know how far, hehehe.

Well I will have bored the socks off most, so I’m off now.
