The cast has been announced for the autumn tour of the acclaimed musical Blood Brothers.
Bill Kenwright’s award-winning production of the international smash hit musical will arrive at Malvern Theatres later this year, running from November 17-21.
Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins separated at birth, who grow upon the opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with tragic consequences.
Vivienne Carlyle returns as Mrs Johnstone following nightly standing ovations with her rendition of the finale song ‘Tell Me It’s Not True’ due to be performed at the 10th Anniversary of Magic at the Musicals at the Royal Albert Hall on September 20.
This concert will then be broadcast at a later date on Magic Radio.
Richard Munday will perform as narrator, Sean Jones and Joe Sleight continue as twin brothers Mickey and Eddie, with Tricia Adele Turner joining as Mrs Lyons and Beth Danher as Linda.
The autumn cast also includes Jamil Abbasi as Neighbour, Sarah Moss as Donna Marie/Miss Jones, Amelia Poggenpoel as Brenda, and Jack Anthony Smart as Perkins.
Tim Churchill returns as Mr Lyons, alongside Michael Gillette as Sammy, Alex Harland as Policeman/Teacher, and Graeme Kinniburgh as Bus Conductor/Postman.
Written by acclaimed playwright Willy Russell, the production is described as the "Standing Ovation Musical," known for regularly bringing audiences to their feet.
Russell is one of this country's leading contemporary dramatists. His countless credits include Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine.
Educating Rita was commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company and later adapted into a film starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters.
Shirley Valentine was also made into a popular film featuring Pauline Collins and Tom Conti and the stage production returned to the West End in 2023 with Sheridan Smith.
Blood Brothers was hailed as "one of the best musicals ever" by the Sunday Times with Bill Kenwright’s production surpassing 10,000 performances in London’s West End.
It began as a school play performed at a Liverpool comprehensive in 1981 before its debut at the Liverpool Playhouse in 1983.
The show has since enjoyed success around the world, with sold-out seasons in the US, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Japan.
It has won four Best Musical awards in London and received seven Tony Award nominations on Broadway.
