Two homes in Powick were evacuated after a fire spread in a housing estate.

The flames were spotted by police officers on Hospital Lane, Powick, just before 3pm on Wednesday (June 24).

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "Unfortunately, despite officers initially trying to put out the fire with an extinguisher from their police vehicle, due to the extreme weather conditions, the fire continued to spread until fire brigade arrived and extinguished it.
