MALVERN Town is hoping its new stand will become known for having one of the most iconic views in non-league football.

The club has been given permission to build a new Hills View Stand, providing covered standing for more than 400 fans at Langland Stadium.

The Hillsiders’ clubhouse will also be upgraded to include a terrace and canopy, providing step-free access and a raised platform for wheelchair users.

Members of Malvern Hills District Council’s planning committee approved the plans at a meeting on Wednesday (January 21).

Club chairman Chris Pinder said: ““We’re incredibly pleased. This unanimous decision reflects just how much support there is for what we’re building, not just a better football ground, but a lasting community asset.

"We’re grateful to the council, our supporters, and everyone who helped us get to this point. The Hills View Stand will become something truly special for Malvern.”

He said opposition fans have already been sharing photos from the spot where the Hills View Stand will be built, saying Malvern Town are not wrong to claim it will boast iconic views.

Mr Pinder said the club will now start working with contractors and suppliers to get construction underway as soon as possible.

He hopes to have the works completed ready for the start of next season and joked: “Fans will still have to bring their umbrellas for the next few weeks.”

Mr Pinder also said he was proud of the clubhouse plans, which he said will make the ground a “more inclusive stadium”.

Fans with limited mobility will have a better view of the pitch and be closer to facilities including toilets and warm spaces.

The project is being funded by the club, its shareholders, cornerstone sponsors, and the Premier League Stadium Fund.

Impressive performances on the pitch in recent seasons have seen attendances grow, which has fuelled a desire by the club’s management to improve the stadium.

The stand and clubhouse plans follow a sustained period of infrastructure investment, including a 3G pitch, new changing facilities and a car park upgrade.
