A 26-year-old man from Malvern has been charged with a series of offences including attempted GBH and dangerous driving.

Alex Chapman appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday (April 12) after an incident in Edgar Street, Hereford on Wednesday (April 9) where a white Vauxhall mounted the kerb and crashed into a 16-year-old boy, while a second pedestrian narrowly avoided being hit.

Chapman, of Teme Avenue, Malvern, is charged with two counts of attempt to cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of dangerous driving and two counts of driving without insurance.

Following the incident, DS Leah Lowe, from Hereford CID, said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage in the moments before.

“Given the time of the incident and location – near to The Courtyard on the junction of Moor Street – we believe there will be people who saw what happened and ask they get into contact.

“Please contact me via email, leah.lowe@westmercia.police.uk, or call 01432 347197 if you think you can help.”

Chapman will next appear in court on Tuesday, May 13.
