A NEW town band have just signed a record contract ahead of their forthcoming album being released.

Malvern progressive rock group Erebus Rising is teaming up with town company Monty Funk Productions.

The band’s album 2045 is being released for streaming and downloads in the summer with two singles Imminent Impact and Worlds On Fire dropping first in June and July.

2045 is a concept album depicting worldwide disaster and comprising 18 tracks.

It is now complete with a few guest stars appearing with cameo roles.

With the renewed interest in albums, particularly with Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa now embracing the format, the genre looks like it is back.

The music of Erebus Rising has been described as rather reminiscent of classic story-telling concept albums of The Who, Pink Floyd and The Beatles.

Crossed with a sound hinting at Deep Purple, Rush and Foo Fighters, Erebus Rising are already making their mark.

Montgomery Funk, producer and founder of montyfunk.com which is the record company bankrolling the project, said: “The time is right for a fully immersive concept album and this one tackles a very emotive point — the end of the world!

“In true concept album style this 18-track masterpiece will definitely sound epic on vinyl!”

Antony ‘Griff’ Griffiths and Pete Nash, founders of Erebus Rising, said: “Malvern has been such a hub of music for so many years.

“Its inspirational landscape and history make a concept album from the Hills something long overdue!”
