JORDAN Baldwinson and Dan Moss were in danger of becoming forgotten men at Bulls.

But only in the minds of fans perhaps, because head coach Eamon O’Carroll has been keeping tabs on the pair for months now, and is hoping both will have a big impact for the first team in 2024.

Baldwinson and Moss were in action for Bulls’ reserves last night, as they returned from their respective injury nightmares, and the former could even be in line for a shock return to the 17 for the club’s huge 1895 Cup semi-final at home to Wakefield next weekend.

Discussing Baldwinson, who has not played since suffering a horror knee injury against Toulouse last June, O’Carroll said: “He’s more than ready to play again.

“He looks fit and strong and both his knee and head are in a good place, so it’s just about ticking off that last box of playing games now.

“Jordan’s impressed me, because while it was obviously a negative for him to get such a bad injury, he’s been the utmost professional over it all, which he’s shown with the quality of training he’s been producing.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes in a reserve game or two, but if I felt we needed him for the first-team game with Wakefield next Sunday, I’d trust him to do a job for us.”

Moss joined on trial alongside Eliot Peposhi last November.

But while the latter has already shown enough to earn himself a deal until the end of 2026, half back Moss has not been seen on the field since picking up an injury in January, with some speculating that he may have left the club.

That is not the case at all, with O’Carroll explaining: “We’ve put him in the reserves this week like Jordan because he needs games.

“With the way reserves rugby is set up, it’s been difficult, because we were looking to play Dan in a second-team match three weeks ago, but it got called off at the last minute.

“We did look at sending him out on dual-registration too, but that didn’t come off.

“Dan’s shown us some impressive things in his time here and it almost feels like we’ve let him down a bit because we haven’t been able to get him out on the pitch playing.

“We’ll give him a few games in the reserves, then assess how he’s done, and see what part he can play for the first team this season.”

In further good news, O’Carroll expects captain and prop Michael Lawrence to return from injury and play in this weekend’s Betfred Championship game at Swinton.

Second row Zac Fulton is due to come back into the fold too, while winger Jorge Taufua could feature, though he faces a late fitness test.

Without him naming names, O'Carroll also suggested a couple of other players who have been out injured of late might be back for the Swinton match.
