A POST on social media led some people to believe comedy star Matt Lucas was appearing in Bromsgrove – however, it turned out to be a prank.
A message shared on the Spotted Bromsgrove Facebook group indicated that the Little Britain and Come Fly With Me comedian was going to visit the Kwik Fit on Worcester Road on Wednesday afternoon (April 17) as part of a “charity fundraising event."
A post shared on the Spotted Bromsgrove Facebook page said: “Matt Lucas from Little Britain is visiting Kwik Fit in Bromsgrove this afternoon around 2:30 as part of a charity fundraising event”.
But, the local Kwik Fit branch said no such event had been organised and the message was a “hoax” created by an unknown prankster.
Reece Cureton, a supervisor at the Kwik Fit branch, said that people visited the shop in the afternoon expecting to see Matt Lucas.
He confirmed: “It was just a hoax in the end”.
