THESE images show the aftermath of a crash on a busy city roundabout which triggered a large emergency response.

The wrecked Toyota Hilux covered in police tape is still on the Ketch roundabout in Worcester this morning after suffering heavy front end damage during the crash last night.

We have approached West Mercia Police, Herford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and the West Midlands Ambulance service for more information on the incident.

Multiple emergency vehicles were on scene at around 7.45pm last night though we have yet to receive precise details of when the incident although the Worcester News understands from the fire service that one male casualty was involved.Malvern Gazette: INCIDENT: The Toyota Hilux is covered in police tape after the crash at the Ketch roundabout on Friday evening INCIDENT: The Toyota Hilux is covered in police tape after the crash at the Ketch roundabout on Friday evening (Image: James Connell/Newsquest)

There were two fire engines at the scene, two ambulances and several police cars on blue lights at the scene - the busy roundabout where the A4440 meets the A38.

An eyewitness said: "There were a large number of emergency vehicles at the scene of the crash on blue lights which I could see from St Peter's roundabout. I could see firefighters around the damaged cars. Fingers crossed everyone is okay."

Several firefighters were observed around the damaged vehicle. The barrier surrounding the edge of the roundabout was buckled in the incident.

A section of the roundabout was closed (coned off) so traffic coming from the Carrington Bridge was unable to turn right onto the A38 Worcester Road towards Kempsey.

Instead traffic was diverted straight onto the A4440 towards St Peter's or left towards the A38 Bath Road.

By around 8.20pm the roundabout was completely reopened and all emergency vehicles had left the scene.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they sent two fire engines to the scene after receiving a call at 7.17pm to reports of a 4x4 through the barrier of the roundabout.

He said one male casualty was conscious and breathing at the scene. The critical care team, an ambulance and police were all in attendance, the fire service spokesperson confirmed.
