A 'SEVERE' house fire has gutted a two-storey building in Badsey as firefighters from across the county and outside its borders were deployed to fight the blaze.

At the height of the fire last night, four crews were tackling the blaze and support was also received from neighbouring Gloucestershire and Warwickshire.

The 999 call was received at around 8pm last night but no casualties occurred despite the severity of the blaze, the fire service has revealed.

A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "This was a severe fire in a two-storey building, around 30m by 10m.

"The incident was sectorised and the fire was fought using four jets and a nine-metre ladder with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus. Water carriers and street mains were in use. Electrics and gas were isolated to the affected and neighbouring properties. There were no casualties and police also attended. A reinspection is due at 8am."

The spokesperson added the following services were dispatched to the scene: four Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews – two from Evesham and one each from Pebworth and Upton-upon-Severn Fire Stations – plus the aerial ladder platform from Worcester, the water carrier from Evesham, the incident command unit from Wyre Forest and the welfare unit from Tenbury Wells in addition to a water carrier from Gloucester Fire and Rescue Service and a crew from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.
