Plans for an improved lighting scheme at a waste incineration unit near Malvern have been approved.

The county council’s Planning and Regulatory committee were asked to decide on the security lighting and CCTV scheme on Tuesday (March 19).

Members heard the lights are needed as the site, in Hangman's Lane, Hanley Castle, requires 24-hour security because of vandalism.

Planning consultants said they had spoken to ‘dark skies’ consultants to ensure the impact of new lights would be minimised and that a new four-metre high fence was being installed along the site’s northern border.

Cllr Martin Allen had concerns about the type of lights and sensors being used in the project but the committee voted to approve the proposal.
