A Ledbury-based transport company has been working to fundraise for a variety of charities and community causes.

The 75-strong team at ABE have raised money for causes across both the UK and in Africa.

St Michael’s Hospice is one of the causes to benefit, with the company sponsoring its Christmas tree collection and recycling scheme.

ABE successfully managed to collect 70 trees, aiding in an over £1,000 boost for the hospice.

In addition to sponsoring the hospice’s Christmas tree recycling scheme for the third year running, various sports clubs in the area, including Ledbury Rugby Club, Malvern Rugby Club and Ledbury Town Football Club, have received financial support from the company.

ABE also contributed to the Ledbury Town Carnival were paramount for its success, providing three floats as well as a central stage.

For five consecutive years, the Dymock Half Marathon & Music Festival has welcomed the firm’s sponsorship, as well as a trailer for a stage.

The company has provided long-term support for charity Megan Baker House for 15 years, assisting children and adults in Herefordshire and beyond who live with motor disorders, such as cerebral palsy.

The company has also adorned a trailer with a livery inspired by the charity to enhance the its regional profile.

Last but not least, managing director Clive Brooks is set to tackle a six day 474-mile cycling expedition in Kenya in support of Transaid.

The funds raised were used to support professional driver and maintenance training programmes with intentions of improving transport management systems, rural access, road safety and healthcare access for industry drivers and representatives.

Mr Brooks said: "ABE has long been part of the fabric of Ledbury and the surrounding area.

"We have a lot of local people on our team and the business has always been well supported by our local community.

"There are some great community groups in the area which touch the lives of a lot of people for a variety of reasons.

"Our colleagues take great pride in playing their part in helping our community thrive and it is an honour for ABE as a business to be able to give something back."
