A DATE has been set for the inquest of a man who died after he was found seriously hurt outside of a Malvern pub on New Year's Eve. 

Robert Chadney died in hospital after being discovered outside the Beauchamp Arms, Worcester Road, Malvern.

A passing ambulance crew spotted him and stopped to help at 10pm on December 31.

Ambulance crews gave the injured man advanced life support at the scene before taking him to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment, where he later died from his injuries.

The 65-year-old's inquest is now set to take place at Worcestershire Coroner's Court, in Stourport, on August 22.

The inquest is listed for a half-day hearing in front of Worcestershire's senior coroner David Reid.

As we have previously reported a man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. 

The 52-year-old man who was arrested was released while enquiries continue.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said the man remains on bail on suspicion of attempted murder. 

In a previous statement, Detective Inspector Mark Walters said: "I would like to pass on my condolences to the family and friends of the individual who has sadly died following this tragic incident on Sunday evening.

"I know an incident like this brings great concern to the local community and I would like to reassure people that this is an isolated incident.

"Our investigation is continuing, and I urge anyone who may have seen the incident take place or has any other information, however small you think it may be, to please contact us."

A blue forensics tent and police cordon were set up on the pavement outside the pub in the aftermath of the incident.

Prior to the announcement of Mr Chadney's death, a spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "A passing by ambulance crew came across an incident on Worcester Road, Malvern at 10.04pm (on December 31).

"A further Critical Care Car from Midland Air Ambulance attended the scene.

"Upon arrival, we found a man in a critical condition.

"Ambulance staff administered advanced life support to him which continued on route to hospital where he was conveyed for further treatment."
