PEOPLE have been told to expect a weekend of rain after the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the area.

The warning for rain covers Worcester, Malvern and Evesham - as well as the entirety of the West Midlands, The North East and the south of the country.

This weather warning also means more flood warnings are in force across Worcestershire, which has been ravaged by floods in recent weeks.

The warning lasts the whole weekend, coming into effect at 3pm Saturday and ending at 6pm Sunday.

What to expect:

  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely
  • Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely

Worcestershire residents can expect rain early Saturday evening which will most likely continue through to the early hours of Sunday morning.

Malvern Gazette:

For Worcester, The Met Office predicts largely cloudy and murky at times over higher ground, Turning breezier with heavy rain arriving by the evening.

What you can do:

  • Check if your property could be at risk of flooding, if so consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit
  • Check road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables to avoid delays.
  • Prepare for potential power cuts with torches, batteries, power packs and other essential items.

The outlook for Sunday to Tuesday predicts a few heavy showers and that it will be breezy at times, however, mostly mild temperament with occasional sunny spells.

The Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area as weather warnings can change quickly.
