A NUMBER of flood alerts and warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency following the heavy rain of recent days.
There are currently four alerts and four warnings in place.
Flood alerts mean flooding is possible while the more severe flood warnings mean flooding is expected.
The warnings are in place at:
- River Severn at Court Meadow, Kempsey and Callow End
- River Severn at Pitchcroft, North Worcester
- River Severn in South Worcester
- River Teme at Bransford
Flood alerts are in place at:
- Barbourne Brook
- Bow and Piddle Brook
- Lower Teme
- River Severn in Worcestershire
The warning for Pitchcroft says: "River levels are rising at the Worcester (Barbourne) river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. Consequently, the risk of flooding remains. We expect flooding to affect properties and roads in and around Pitchcroft.
"Predicted Peak:- Worcester 4.6m to 4.9m Sunday evening, 11/02/24.
"Further rainfall is forecast over the weekend. We expect river levels to remain high until Monday 12/02/24. We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are liaising with Local Authorities. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses and plan driving routes to avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded."
