AN emphatic and caring teacher is in the running for a Worcestershire Education Award.

Sharon McFee, pastoral lead at Oldbury Park Primary School, has been nominated in the category of Unsung Hero Award.

Her nomination said: "Sharon has been a long-standing member of staff, throughout the years she has supported all young people who need support this could be with additional needs, or just a life-changing event that could impact a young person.

"Sharon gives care and empathy to all students and parents. Sharon goes above and beyond within her role by welcoming families and the support she shows is second to none.

"Due to these qualities, Sharon has inspired my daughter to take a career path as a special education needs teacher.

"Sharon is inspiring young people and this is what teaching is all about.
