WORCESTER Cathedral was again packed for the year's Worcester News Christmas Carol Service.
The popular service, which marks the start of Christmas celebrations for many, was held at the Cathedral tonight, (December 20).
The event, which annually raises money for Worcester Cathedral Music Fund, sees local dignitaries, churchgoers, readers and Worcester News staff in attendance.
The service got underway with Once In Royal David’s City, sung by the choir before the whole congregation then joined in.
There were readings from Julia Lancett, regional managing director of Newsquest Midlands South, Julie Bolton - regional newspaper sales manager for Midlands South and the Mayor of Worcester, Councillor Louis Stephen.
Festive favourites were sung on the night including Away in a manger, Good King Wenceslas and Ding dong! Merrily on high.
Worcester News' editor Stephanie Preece, who also gave a reading at the event, said: "Worcester News Christmas Carol Service is always a truly enjoyable way to get the festive season underway.
"It proved again to be one of the highlights of the year.
"We wish all our readers a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.”
